SESE has three treatment serums. Each one targets a different aspect of aging skin, works through a different mechanism, and suits different skin types and priorities. This is not a case of more is better — it is a case of understanding what your skin actually needs and choosing accordingly.
You might use one. You might use two at different times of day. You might work through all three across different stages of your skincare practice. Here is what you need to know about each.
Vitamin C Serum — for brightness and protection
Best for: dull skin, uneven tone, dark spots, and anyone who wants antioxidant protection as part of their morning routine.
Vitamin C is a morning ingredient. It works synergistically with SPF to combat the oxidative stress caused by UV exposure, and it addresses the visible consequences of that stress — pigmentation, uneven tone, loss of radiance — through its effect on melanin production and collagen support.
If your primary concern is brightness, evening out the skin tone, or supporting the effects of your SPF, Vitamin C is the serum to prioritise. It is also a good choice as a first treatment serum if you are new to actives and want to start with something that delivers visible results without irritation risk.
Not ideal for: very reactive or sensitised skin at the outset — start every other day and build up.
Peptide Serum — for firmness and elasticity
Best for: skin that is losing firmness, fine lines that have become more pronounced, anyone who wants long-term structural support without irritation.
Peptides are versatile — morning or evening, compatible with essentially all other skincare ingredients, gentle enough for daily use from day one. Their mechanism of action is slower and more foundational than Vitamin C: they signal to the skin to produce more collagen, which builds over weeks and months into improved firmness and visible smoothing of lines.
If you are building an anti-aging routine for the first time, a peptide serum is an excellent foundation — and it is the serum we would recommend for anyone who finds retinol or retinol alternatives too stimulating.
Retinol Alternative Serum — for cell renewal and line reduction
Best for: skin that is ready for more targeted anti-aging treatment, particularly textural concerns, fine lines, and visible signs of reduced cell turnover.
Our retinol alternative uses plant-derived compounds that work through a similar mechanism to retinol — stimulating cell renewal and collagen production — without the irritation, sensitivity, and photosensitivity associated with conventional retinoids. The results come more gradually, but they come without the adjustment period that makes many people abandon retinol-based routines.
This is an evening serum. Apply it after toning, before your night cream, on days when your skin feels balanced and comfortable — daily if possible, every other day if your skin needs it.
Can you use more than one?
Yes — with care. Vitamin C in the morning and Retinol Alternative in the evening is a well-tolerated, effective combination for many people. Add Peptide Serum to either routine for enhanced firming support. The key is to listen to your skin and not chase more product with the assumption that more means better results. Consistent use of the right product matters far more than layering three serums at once.
